bikinibottomDr. Laughlin is pleased to announce that a new program has launched at Laserderm to help meet the needs of patients who are seeking non-surgical solutions for some common issues, that are not commonly discussed. Pelvic health is a topic which affects most women at some point in their lives. Factors that affect pelvic health are: pregnancy, childbirth, weight fluctuations, menopause, chemotherapy or trauma. Sexual health is also a hot topic, especially now since there are new therapies available to help restore or to simply enhance and improve sexual experience. While there are many FDA/Health Canada drugs and treatments available for male sexual dysfunction, the options for women are only now emerging. And let’s face it, we are worth it!  Our new Women’s Health Program is a holistic approach to helping women achieve optimal pelvic health and function, and we partner with other professionals in our community such as gynecologists/endocrinologists, pelvic physiotherapists, and sex therapists/counsellors in order to provide the best care possible for our patients.

The FemiLift is a revolutionary fractionated CO2 laser procedure which is FDA and Health Canada approved for vaginal tissue restoration. FemiLift treatments are for vaginal atrophy (thinning of the vaginal wall, dryness, irritation which can make intercourse uncomfortable or not possible) commonly associated with menopause but can also occur with certain conditions, medications, or  chemotherapy. Other conditions which can improve from FemiLifts treatments are: dyspareunia (pain with intercourse), mild stress urinary incontinence after childbirth, vaginal laxity after childbirth or related to mild bladder prolapse. The simple and safe 20 minute procedure is performed monthly for 3 sessions before you see optimal results, and has no down-time. Some patients notice an improvement of symptoms even after a single treatment session. A pelvic exam, papsmear (and possibly a gynecology referral) are part of the patient screening to ensure your candidacy. Dr. MacIsaac is the new Associate Dermatologist, also credentialed with advanced Gynecological specialization from her Family Medicine background.  For more information go to, FemiLift with Alma Laser
